J'Shaun Wilson scored seven touchdowns against Eastside Catholic, and now the O'Dea junior running back brings the state's No. 4-ranked team to Chief Sealth on Friday, Oct. 23.
Wilson's performance in O'Dea's 59-33 win powered the Fighting Irish (7-0) up three spots in High School On SI's Washington Top 25 rankings for Oct. 20. O'Dea had been ranked No. 7.
The stat line depends on who's counting. The SI rankings credited Wilson with 359 rushing yards. The Seattle Medium's game recap listed 371 yards on 26 carries. Either way, Wilson handed previously unbeaten Eastside Catholic its first loss of the season.
O'Dea head coach Monte Kohler praised Wilson after the game. "Number 4 man, what a game," Kohler said, according to the Seattle Medium. "We worked hard and played hard. But we need to clean up. We have to tackle better, and we do have a lot of work to do."
Chief Sealth lost to Bishop Blanchet 21-14 in Week 7, according to Seattle Medium scores. O'Dea entered the Eastside Catholic game averaging 45.8 points per game while allowing 10.3, according to the Seattle Medium.
Eastside Catholic (6-1) dropped from No. 11 to No. 16 and travels to Lincoln (Seattle) on Friday.
Rainier Beach hosts Roosevelt
The other marquee Seattle matchup Friday sends Roosevelt (2-5) to Rainier Beach (6-1), ranked No. 17 statewide for the second straight week.
The Vikings rolled Lincoln (Seattle) 60-13 in Week 7. Senior quarterback Esquire Williams and sophomore Damari'ae Barrington led the offense, though the two available sources disagree on the stat lines. The SI rankings credited Williams with 16-of-22 passing for 223 yards and three touchdowns, and Barrington with 65 rushing yards and three scores. The Seattle Medium's Week 7 report listed Williams at 11-of-18 for 175 yards and Barrington with two touchdowns on 62 yards.
Roosevelt enters after a 45-0 loss to Seattle Prep on Oct. 16, according to MaxPreps.
