Democratic Sen. Emily Alvarado is running for Washington Senate District 34 in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. King County Elections' general-election candidate list shows her as unopposed.
Her district includes West Seattle, Vashon Island, White Center and west Burien, according to her official Senate biography. Alvarado was elected to the state House in 2022 before moving to the Senate.
The biography describes her previous work as director of Seattle's Office of Housing, an executive at a national affordable-housing nonprofit, professional staff at Planned Parenthood and a community organizer. She earned a law degree at the University of Washington.
Her legislative biography identifies housing affordability, economic opportunity, public education, child care and reproductive justice among her priorities. These are the priorities described by her legislative office, rather than a newly submitted questionnaire response.
The Legislature's current member page lists Alvarado as vice chair of both the Housing Committee and Labor and Commerce Committee, and a member of the Transportation Committee. That current listing corrects the earlier draft's incomplete committee description.
