Democratic state Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon is seeking reelection to Washington House District 34, Position 2, in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. Mary Anito, also a Democrat, is the other candidate, according to King County Elections.

Fitzgibbon was elected to represent the district in 2010. He became House majority leader in 2022 and continues in that role, according to his official legislative biography.

The biography says he chaired the House Environment and Energy Committee from 2014 to 2022. It describes his work on the Clean Fuel Standard, Climate Commitment Act and Clean Energy Transformation Act. Those accounts reflect the legislative office's description of his record.

His current assignments include the Appropriations and Rules committees and the Select Committee for Pension Policy. Before election to the House, he worked as a legislative staff member and served on the Burien Planning Commission.

The legislative biography says Fitzgibbon grew up in Burien and lives in West Seattle. His campaign's priorities include housing affordability, public transportation and ferry service, and climate policy. Those positions are attributed to the campaign rather than presented as independently measured outcomes.
