Teresa Mosqueda is seeking reelection to King County Council District 8 in the November 3, 2026, general election. The official county candidate list names Nick Duda as the other candidate in this nonpartisan race.
In her submitted Surround Sound Media questionnaire, Mosqueda identifies herself as a progressive labor Democrat. She lists service on King County Council since 2024 and on Seattle City Council from 2017 through 2024. She says her earlier career included work at the Washington State Labor Council, Children’s Alliance, Washington State Department of Health and Sea Mar Community Health Centers.
Mosqueda reports earning a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from the University of Washington in 2002 and a master’s degree in public administration, focused on health policy, from The Evergreen State College in 2006.
Asked why she is running, Mosqueda says she wants to continue work on public health, displacement and services for working families. She cites her role in Seattle’s JumpStart payroll tax and worker protections as examples of her approach, and describes county work on immigrant protections, responsible contracting and housing policy. These descriptions of her record are her own questionnaire statements.
On transit, Mosqueda says she wants to accelerate West Seattle light rail while helping North Delridge businesses affected by the project find places to continue operating. She names childcare, music lessons, all-ages entertainment, grocery shopping and a neighborhood brewhouse among services she wants preserved.
Asked about Burien, Tukwila and White Center, she calls for a coordinated response to workers who may face coercion, connecting them with labor-rights information and support organizations.
