Seattle Storm guard Flau'jae Johnson will represent the United States at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup in San Salvador, El Salvador, starting Wednesday, Oct. 28.

USA Basketball announced the selection Oct. 22. Johnson joins Aziaha James, Aerial Powers and Sydney Taylor on the four-player women's roster. Christina Batastini, who coached the U.S. women to gold at the 2025 3x3 AmeriCup, returns as head coach.

The tournament runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. Team USA begins pool play Saturday, Oct. 31, at 5:50 p.m. ET against the winner of Qualifying Draw A, then faces the Cayman Islands at 9:20 p.m. ET the same day. Fans can stream every game on FIBA's YouTube channel.

Johnson's selection caps a rookie WNBA season that rewrote the Storm record book. The LSU graduate started all 42 games she played and averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks. She became the first player in WNBA history to post 600-plus points, 200-plus rebounds, 100-plus assists, 50-plus steals and 28-plus blocks in a rookie year.

She set six Storm rookie records: points (626), 25-point games (six), steals (58), field goals made (221), three-pointers made (60) and minutes played (1,204). The league and the Associated Press both named her to the 2026 All-Rookie Team.

This is not Johnson's first time in a USA jersey. She won a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in the traditional 5-on-5 format, as Fox 13 reported, appearing in all seven games and averaging 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds. The 3x3 tournament will be her first half-court international competition.

The No. 8 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft was originally selected by the Golden State Valkyries and traded to Seattle on draft night for Marta Suárez and a 2028 second-round pick. She made an immediate impact on a young Storm team that finished 8-36, the worst record in franchise history.

The losing stung. In Seattle Times coverage published in late September, Johnson said the season left her with a burning desire to improve and described herself as angry about missing the playoffs. She called it fuel.

"I don't want to be watching the playoffs … I want to be in the playoffs. But I know, it takes time. We're building, and we're growing. But I'm a competitor, so I'm going to use that."

Before the playoffs come, there is a gold medal to defend. The U.S. women won the 3x3 AmeriCup in 2021, 2023 and 2025. Pool play tips off Oct. 31.
